ONE of the UK’s leading banks has thrown its weight behind the Essex Digital Awards.
NatWest has signed up as an official supporter of the EDAs, which was set up in 2014 to recognise the online achievements of businesses, schools and charities from across the county.
The company – part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group – is one of the nation’s leading banks with around 33,000 employees, 1,600 high street branches and 3,400 cash machines.
NatWest, which services around 850,000 small businesses nationally, has invested heavily in its digital offering over the past few years and recently introduced The NatWest Mobile Banking App, which has proved popular among its customers.
This new service allows customers to make payments and transfers, check account balances, and open new accounts through a range of mobile operating systems including iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry and Blackberry 10.
It has also introduced Entrepreneurial Spark, a scheme which offers a host of free support services to businesses including IT, office space, specialised mentors and networking opportunities.
Nigel Parsons, Director of Business Banking, NatWest, Mid and North Essex, revealed that he was “very excited” about the forthcoming EDAs.
He added: “Through our Business Banking offering we are committed to supporting enterprise, and in the UK we provide banking services to over 1m SME customers, accounting for about 25 per cent of the SME market.
“Our Ahead for Business promise allows us to put each of our customers at the centre of everything that we do. This means that we are working to make our processes simpler, through our accreditation programme deliver business expertise and by our ‘working with you’ initiative get closer to our customers and share in their ambitions.
“We work closely with a number of important product partners from within the RBS Group.
“These include Mentor, RBS Invoice Finance, Lombard, GBM, Credit, IFS, Financial Planning, OneCard, and Private Banking allowing us to provide a full, expertise led, service from start to finish.”
The EDAs has ten categories – including “Website”, “Use of Social Media for Business”, “Mobile App” and “Small Business Website” and it takes less than two minutes to complete an entry.
The winners’ evening will be held at Weston Homes Community Stadium, Colchester, on April 23, 2015.
The closing date for entries is February 20 2015, at 23:59.
