A Chelmsford-based conglomerate set-up by a 22-year-old entrepreneur has signed up to support the Essex Digital Awards 2015.
Auxiliary Group, which began trading in 2013, is a group of separate companies working across a range of creative industries.
Among their stable are the AuxTech Group, a revolutionary eco-friendly engineering and technology company, a housing development firm which focuses on affordable, carbon neutral, luxury smart homes and Auxiliary Media group – a UK/US based visual, design and animation group.
The three-time Essex Digital Award-winning CEO and Founder, Joe Daniels, fought back from adversity to build up Auxiliary Group after a period living “on the streets”.
“Yes, it’s fair to say it was pretty tough for me for a while, I was living out of a bag on the streets of Chelmsford, but I’m a determined chap,” he admitted.
“I have a vision, I want to be the next Richard Branson, and the past couple of years building up this business from nothing have been incredibly exciting.
“All of our nine businesses continue to grow and we’re constantly looking for new ventures to expand out footprint.”
Mr Daniels’ traumatic struggle as a teenager and recent emergence in business has focused his mind to help other young people who may be in similar situations.
Along with a former business partner, Terry Barnes, Mr Daniels has launched “The Youth of Tomorrow”, a charity which will lead to him sharing his story with school children across the country and overseas.
Mr Daniels has also teamed up with Limkokwing University in Malaysia, the world’s largest private campus, to develop the Auxiliary Academy which focuses on teaching life skills and academic studies thorough a create learning process.
Mr Barnes – a banking veteran who also worked closely with Mr Daniels during the set-up of Auxiliary Group added: “I’ve been in business for a very long time but working with Joe has been an inspiration for me because his creative mind, enthusiasm and work ethic are outstanding.
“He’s not had it easy over the past few years and here we are now, working together and presiding over a very successful group of companies.
“If Joe can help some other young people understand what can be achieved if you put your mind to it and show some determination, then we’re both going to be very proud.
Mr Daniels described success at the Essex Digital Awards in April as “tremendously exciting”.
He said: “Having won the Essex Digital Awards earlier this year at what was a brilliant event, we couldn’t wait to get involved as a sponsor.
“This scheme is recognising businesses, charities and schools from across the county for their work on the internet and it is so relevant to today’s world, winning these awards has certainly given us a huge boost as an organisation.”
At the Essex Digital Awards 2014 Auxiliary won silver awards in the “Responsive Website” and “Small Business Website” categories and bronze in the “Small Business Website” also.
Entry to the Essex Digital Awards is now open, it is free and takes less than two minutes to complete.
