The Essex Digital Awards has signed up Colchester United Football Club’s stadium to host its winners’ evening in April 2015.
Following the runaway success of the inaugural EDAs this year, the event will be held at the Weston Homes Community Stadium (WCHS), which boasts a vastly increased capacity and state-of-the-art banqueting suite.
The site – which is located just two minutes from the A12 – is the home ground of Sky Bet League One football side Colchester United.
In June WHCS hit the headlines after staging a concert for one of the biggest names in pop, Sir Elton John, and it regularly plays host to a range of corporate events, entertainment nights and the Heart Essex Awards.
Tim Waddington, the General Manager at WHCS revealed he was “delighted” to be working with the EDAs.
“We are delighted to be hosting the Essex Digital Awards at the Weston Homes Community Stadium,” he said. “Since opening in 2008, we have held a wide range of awards ceremonies at our home venue and we are looking forward to welcoming the best in digital in April 2015.
“The Essex Digital Awards promises to be an exciting event and we await with interest to see who this year’s finalists will be.”
The EDAs is the first and only scheme to recognize the digital excellence of businesses, charities and schools from across the county.
It is free-to-enter and boasts an impressive ensemble of judges from the digital industry and some of the UK’s largest organisations including the BBC, Sky Sports and Universal Music.
EDA award categories for 2015 include ‘Website’, ‘Use of Social Media for Business’ and ‘Use of Video for Business’.
In May, organisers of the EDAs announced a three-year ‘media partnership’ deal with the Essex Chronicle.
